Welcome to Food and Living Coach

img_20170211_142352-2-copyHi there and welcome!

I’m Elaine, and I’m so glad to meet you.

I’m a wife, mom, new grandma, and daughter and I’m on a mission to live a vibrant and healthy life. Won’t you join me?

I’ve started this resource, with the encouragement of my family, to share the information we’ve been collecting over several years and are continuing to collect about living healthier lives, eating healthier food, and why.

You see…my family would go through the common health challenges that would send us reaching for an over-the-counter medication and sometimes to the doctor for a prescription. But a few years back I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, and that started our family on a journey to pursue and support vibrant health.

I love to research and soon began to realize the impact of the foods that we ate, whether supporting or destroying our health. I was also shocked to learn…well…maybe not so shocked to learn about the crazy combinations of toxins in the cleaners and beauty products that we were buying and using regularly. Other surprises included the impact of stress, trauma, sleep, and thoughts on our health.

I was overwhelmed.

So we started with one simple change. We took a step…and then another…and then another. Sometimes it was food; sometimes it was a cleaner; sometimes it was just saying no to another project or activity.

Those simple changes have added up, and we are so much healthier. My Hashimoto’s is under control and my related symptoms are either totally gone or fading. We feel so much better, and so we decided two things:

  1. I went back to school. I’ll be finishing my training to be a Health Coach in just a few months with the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. I’ll also finish my Gluten Practitioner training in a few months and continuing additional training in Nutritional Endocrinology through the Institute of Nutritional Endocrinology
  2. I started this website to share what we’ve learned with others that want to make changes without getting overwhelmed.

As you can see this resource is relatively new, and I’m in the early stages of learning how to blog and code and set things up, but I hope you have found and will find helpful information that will support you in your journey to vibrant health.

Additionally, watch for the development of the Coaching Services pages that will be coming soon with resources that you may find helpful.

Thank you, and again, Welcome!
